Music Success in Nine Weeks

Updated: Wave 3 starts October 11, 2010

Any aspiring DIY Musician serious about their business needs to read on.

It’s a tall order, however, Ariel Publicity announced last week that they are launching a fresh new round of their nine week blog challenge for aspiring and established musicians.

The background to the challenge is to blog your progress over the full nine weeks with a 3-month Cyber PR headliner campaign (worth over £1000) being the grand prize to the artist who blogs all 9 weeks.

Another update: Bandzoogle will give you a premium website with hosting for 2 years and Airplay Direct will be offering a yearlong Pro account.

There are three reasons why you might want to seriously consider this blog opportunity, or at least grabbing yourself a copy of Ariel’s book “Music Success in Nine Weeks” and those are:

1. Goal setting is critical to any success in life. You need a heading on the horizon to have your game together.  By choosing to take on such a challenge you are making the next step towards personally committing to succeed.

2. The source is trusted.  I had the pleasure to witness Ariel in action at TAXI‘s songwriter’s road-rally in Los Angeles last November and I learned more in one hour than most musicians learn in a year.  I’m serious.  What there is to know about Social Networking will blow your mind.

Did you know My Space has over 5 million artists subscribed?  Only 1575 of those artists release albums that sell more than 50,000 copies.  Only 5945 (less than 2%) sell over 1000 albums.

3. It’s about success.  The Music Business today is about you owning your own business and business plan.  Don’t wait to get signed.  As the Irish playwright, George Bernard Shaw once said,

“The people who succeed in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.”

You might want to consider this for a second.  There are 1.3 billion people with regular internet access in this world.  If you can attract 1% of 1% of 1% of them – that’s ten thousand fans.

A close friend and very talented singer/songwriter, Nikki Loy, has already snapped up the challenge on her own blog.  Check her out.

Good luck and join in the fun on twitter. If you’re already taking part or thinking of taking part let us know in the comments below.

Hey there! Well, I’m taking part in Ariel’s MSiNW blog challenege. I’m looking forward to the unpredictability of what may or may not lie around the corner. There’s some Tweaks I need to sort out with my own online musical presence, so the blog challenge is a fine way to Tweak: in the company of like-minded music folk, all journeying the interweb highway for nine weeks together.

Imagine John Lennon & Neil Young meet Peter Pan on the shores of Neverland…

Thanks for dropping by, Sean.

Looking forward to (and already enjoying) the journey meeting inspiring musicians such as yourself, consolidating and redefining our musical careers.

I sense ‘tweaking’ our online presence might be an ever evolving activity, as we evolve ourselves.

Wish you the very best of luck in the challenge!

Great to connect with you,

Rob

Hey Rob,

I’m definitely looking forward to learning more about social media. I’m only 22 and I feel like an “old guy”. I can’t figure all this stuff out. I have myspace and twitter down, but the facebook band page confuses the hell out of me! haha Hopefully I’ll learn a thing or two about facebook, as well as many other aspects of my quest in the music industry. I started a blog, not necessarily about this book (which I’m planning on doing as well) but just about my life and journey in the music industry. http://www.lostinaname.tumblr.com – the problem is, I really can’t figure out the tumblr site either, haha

Hey Danny,

That makes me postively ancient 🙂 You did well to get MySpace down.

I enjoyed the first post on your blog. I hope you persist as it’s evident you have a lot to share with many folks like you – you’ll be a voice for them.

I’m looking forward to the sections in the nine week challenge that focus on online presence – hopefully something for us all – and we’re all in this together so maybe between us we can figure this stuff out and take on the world.

Good luck. I’m really glad we’ve connected.
